Holy Cross Parish in Illinois Connects with Saint Massimo School in Kenya

Holy Cross Parish in Deerfield, Il. Lenten Project goal was to raise $28,000 for Saint Massimo Mixed Secondary School in Mikinduri, Kenya. Holy Cross Parish CRUSHED that goal and raised almost $33,000. This tremendous generosity will allow Saint Massimo School to purchase computers, science lab equipment, install additional clean water tanks, do some painting and physical repairs, buy books and food, upgrade and repair hygiene facilities, and purchase hygiene supplies.

The students and staff are excited to start the projects to upgrade the school. They also want to thank Holy Cross Parish for their generosity and pray from them daily. Asante na Mungu akubariki!! (Thank you and God bless you!)

St Massimo is a public co-ed Secondary School which opened on February 7, 2006, to accommodate the high number of children who could not afford the high cost of boarding school. In 2006 the student population was 53 in 2019 it was 580.

The increase in enrollment has had school management struggling to provide the most essential facilities required in the school and is determined to focus on Science and Mathematics and make them as popular as the Arts subjects. The construction of a Science Lab is essential for this goal and will require extensive new lighting, storage and shelving, the installation of water and gas lines, fume chamber, and painting. School management has also identified the need for food supplies, water storage tanks, and repairs and upgrades to the hygiene facilities.

The students and staff are excited to start the projects to upgrade the school. They also want to thank Holy Cross Parish for their generosity and pray from them daily.
