Maalifaa Makes Her Dreams Come True
If you had to use just one word to describe Maalifaa, 'determined' might come to mind.
This talented young woman hails from our Konta site, formerly known as SFD (School for the Deaf), in Ghana. From the time she was young, she's weathered many losses and challenges, but remains driven and ambitious.
Her father passed away when she was little, leaving her mother to support five children through her work as a farmer. Feeding a family and paying for school fees on one income was a constant challenge.
Fortunately, in time, Maalifaa was enrolled in the Chalice sponsorship program, opening a swath of new possibilities.
She attended school for many years, but after awhile, felt a tug at her heart, pulling her in a unique direction. She realized her desire to learn the art of dressmaking, and from then on, there was no stopping her. In 2019, she enrolled in dressmaking school.
She studied hard over the next three years, and recently passed her practical test!
"I have achieved my dream," says Maalifaa with joy. "Praise is to God almighty."
She is now a certified member of the national tailoring association, which gives her the green light to open her own shop. She thanks her sponsor, Chalice, and all those who supported her!
