WHERE THERE’S A WILL, GO THEIR WAY: MEET PETER, CATHERINE, AND WILSON
Peter can often be spotted around the Chalice offices carrying a life-sized statue of the Virgin Mary. When he’s not heading up Chalice’s Planned Giving and Major Gifts team, he’s coordinating community gatherings dedicated to Our Lady.
Peter has been with Chalice since 2008, previously managing our international projects, like construction and well drilling, as well as our Gift Catalog. But now he’s made the switch from helping people give goats to helping them meet goals.
“I love getting to work directly with our supporters because they bring out the best in people,” says Peter. “They give me a quick glimpse into their life, and how they want to help others. It's a real blessing.”
His colleague, Catherine, has been with Chalice since 2017. She designed our Canadian school program ‘School Connections,’ and has seen our impact first-hand. She traveled to four of our sites in Kenya.
“I realized that the individual items bought, or improvements made --while very important -- were not the most impactful thing,” she says. Instead, for the children, the greatest thing was feeling like they mattered to their Canadian friends and were worthy of their gifts. “They are so grateful for the hope, the encouragement, the dignity with which they have been treated.”
Now that she helps people plan gifts to Chalice in their Wills, she sees where this hope and encouragement comes from. She says it’s like “having a front seat to witness their personal values and their commitment to what’s important to them."
“I’m simply seeing so much goodness in their hearts. I feel deeply responsible to help them actualize their good intentions, to bring their faith into action.”
Rounding out the trio is Wilson the professor, polyglot, and bookworm. He holds four advanced degrees and has worked for decades in insurance. At Chalice, Wilson feels like he’s in the sweet spot.
“I receive praise and gratitude from donors who recognize Chalice's incredible work,” he says. “Simultaneously, I receive thanks from beneficiaries and project sites, whose reports fill me with satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.”
If you are considering leaving a gift to Chalice in your Will or would like to plan another kind of gift, this is your team. They know that words like ‘estate’ and ‘legacy’ can be daunting, which is why they want to keep focused on action – continuing all the incredible things you’ve begun in your lifetime.
We hope that now that you’ve ‘met’ them, you want to talk to them! They are happy to serve you in English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
