THE PARTY WHERE EVERYONE IS WELCOME

The chance to come together as one big, warm, and welcoming family is the best part of Christmas. In the Nellore sponsor site, it’s the greatest gift we can give.

The chance to come together as one big, warm, and welcoming family is the best part of Christmas. In the Nellore sponsor site, it’s the greatest gift we can give.

Our Nellore sponsor site, run by the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod, bring the love of Christ year-round to families who are marginalized by disease and prejudices. The Sisters also run Vianney Home, which cares for children with disabilities, orphans, and children who cannot live with their families.

For individuals and families who feel excluded much of the time, the Christmas celebration is one of the most important times for the Sisters to “spread the message of love and good cheer to the children and their parents. The month of December brings a lot of warmth, hope, and glad tidings.”

The Sisters plan their big day with the financial support of Chalice’s Christmas fund. Through the fund, all of Chalice’s sites can include non-sponsored children, siblings, and vulnerable community members in the celebration.

“The entire stage was beautifully decorated with balloons and flowers. Children were involved in making the [nativity] cribs and decorating the premises which brought a festive and happy atmosphere.”

The celebrations began in prayer and song. Then the children performed "creative and well-choreographed dances,” poems, skits, and other entertainments for the gathered community.

"Children performed the nativity scene beautifully" the staff write. “Through this play, children gave the message that Christmas is about caring and loving one another and not about gifting."

“Finally,” the staff writes, “Santa Claus, disguised as a bag containing gifts and chocolates, arrived.” He made sure all the little ones got a chocolate.

Then everyone sat down for a “sumptuous meal.” Just as the Sisters had hoped, it “was a wonderful opportunity to spread joy to everyone.”

“All the participants were happy and filled with the love, peace, and joy that Christmas offers to all.”
