A Nutrition Boost In Bulacan

A short drive north of metro Manila finds you in Baliuag, a community of about 15,000 families. The Catholic foster home "Bethlehem House of Bread" takes in children who cannot live with their families, and their staff have been Chalice's partners since 1999 as the Bulacan sponsor site.

There are now 89 children living at the Bethlehem home. The children, and the staff who care for them, were reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is no wonder that they were "all smiles" when they received a much-awaited shipment of food.

Thanks to the giving spirits of Chalice supporters, the children opened up the boxes containing their riches. The items included milk, infant formula, canned goods, cooking oil, and other staples. The children need robust and vitamin-rich diets to support healthy immune systems, especially now.

"It's a big, big help in these most trying times," writes the Bulacan site staff.

"The children's way of thanking [the Chalice supporters] in return is by continually praying for [their] good health and well-being...for their untiring generosity."
