Germain is Stronger Than Ever Thanks To Kind Donors

Eight-year-old Germain lives near our Haiti South sponsor site and is feeling much better these days thanks to donations made through our critical needs fund. Suffering from a congenital neuromuscular disease causing muscle weakness, Germain was missing out on the best parts of childhood. Due to her condition, she has trouble standing for long periods of time and couldn't play with her friends and classmates.

Adapting the best she could under the circumstances, Germain would try to participate and always looked forward to what she could do each day. Unfortunately, her condition began to deteriorate and she was in a lot of pain, unable to do even the most basic of tasks. She was prescribed a regimen of high-protein supplements, physical therapy, and medications to help improve her quality of life, but her family, like all families in our Haiti sites, was unable to pay for this treatment.

Thanks to the donation of $1,123.72 she has been able to receive her treatments and is feeling stronger and happier than ever. "I'm very delighted to write you to thank you for your donation," she writes in her thank you letter. "Before I was weak and the weakness was all over me; I couldn't even stand and I used to fall down too. Thanks to the treatments I am now feeling much better and my parents and I are so grateful. I will raise you and your family in my prayers, God bless you."
