Christ's Love is Eternal

The way you celebrate Christmas may be different this year but the reason we celebrate has not and will not change.

November 29 marked the first Sunday of Advent and around the world millions of Catholics lit their first purple candle, entering this season of preparation. 2020 has been a hectic year, to say the least, but Advent is the perfect time for all of us to calm our minds, pray, and prepare our hearts for the coming of our Lord Jesus.

The resiliency and determination of our partners on the ground are inspiring. Through every obstacle, restriction, and illness they rise above and find solutions to help the communities and people we serve. Because of you, our most cherished and unwavering supporters, they will keep going and have the resources they need to respond to requests on the ground.

Our site in Arica, Chile was experiencing months of upheaval last year from a social uprising that caused blocked roads, disrupted power, and destroyed infrastructure which affected how they usually approached their Christmas celebration. But the staff worked together and still planned a warm and uplifting celebration for the children, elders, and their families.

“It was very exciting for everyone to see happy children, especially in the play,” writes our Arica sponsor site in their Christmas report. “When the "Virgin Mary" showed the image of the baby Jesus, all the children of the party approached to kiss Him. Father Alberto Rodriguez was very grateful since he never imagined that the party would be so emotional and cheerful.”

It’s not too late to contribute to our Christmas Catalog which is pooled and sent to sites so our families can celebrate.
