The Right Tools for the Job

Robert was abandoned by his mother when he was a little boy but thankfully he was taken in and lovingly raised by his uncles. Not allowing his circumstances to define his ability, this hardworking young man works as a gardener, clearing brush and overgrown areas throughout his community. A shining light, he is very grateful for all he has and for what God has provided in his life.

Once on a visit to the Tacuruty area, workers from our CMAVIL site in Paraguay met Robert while he was clearing brush without tools. The workers spoke with him and after hearing his story, inspired by his resilience, determination, and joy, recommended he receive a brush cutter through the Chalice gift catalogue to help him with his work.

"Robert is a young man with many dreams, but without any support from his parents it is hard for him to get ahead," said Sr. Marcelina, site director of the CMAVIL sponsor site. "Thankfully his uncles provide him with a home and food but he needed a little help with his business. One of the lessons that we learned from our work is that there are always people who want to get ahead, but struggle because they don't have the necessary tools. We can always be that little light in the middle of so much darkness."
