THROUGH MY EYES – THIS MONTH’S FEATURED ARTIST: JACQUELINE!

“Since she was little,” says Don Bosco site worker Antonio, “Jacqueline has stood out, at school and at home, with her hands as a drawing artist.”

Jacqueline grew up with her mother, Isabel, and two brothers. They live in a community where our Don Bosco sponsor site works. Our partners are a Salesian initiative; the site is named in honor of St. John Bosco who inspired many Catholics to love and serve young people.

Antonio and the site staff met Jacqueline when she was nine. In the seven years since, they’ve watched her flourish, both as a young woman and as an artist.

"We have witnessed her growth,” says Antonio, “not only in age but also in exceptional artistic abilities.”

Her sponsor was always there for her, even in the difficult times – the pandemic, moving schools, starting high school. Sponsorship helped her afford books, school supplies, and uniforms.

“She and her family have faced various circumstances with courage and determination,” Antonio says. “By helping each other, they’ve been able to get ahead and improve their quality of life.”

Now 16, Jacqueline achieves high grades. She most enjoys her psychology class. She has a strong and supportive group of friends.

When Chalice asked the Don Bosco site for an artist to feature, Antonio knew straight away.

“Thanks to her remarkable artistic ability, her talent, and dedication, she stands out as a worthy representative of the sponsored children, her school, and her community.”

“She has become an inspiration for her friends, schoolmates, and other sponsored children.”
