Through My Eyes - October

By popular request, we’ve done something new this year. We’ve printed Christmas cards featuring artwork by sponsored youth, and one highly creative sponsor. You can get your set of ten cards for a donation here Let’s meet the artists!

Jozantha is in grade ten and lives with her family in our Goa sponsor site. She celebrates Christmas with her parents, sister, and grandmother. They go to midnight Mass together, and then her mum and grandmother make biryani, a favourite mixed rice dish. Delicious!

Viktoriia is 16 years old and the middle sister of two brothers. Thanks to her sponsor’s support through our Pochaiv, Ukraine site, she’s been thriving in her art school classes. In fact, she graduated from two state art colleges (one for art, one for piano) with honors! She’s winning accolades for her artwork and musicianship across Ukraine.

Fernando José is in grade 12 and lives with his mother and four brothers in La Paz, Bolivia. One of his favourite parts of Christmas is when his mother cooks picana, a fragrantly seasoned, slow-cooked soup made with meat, potatoes, corn, root vegetables

Perina is a fiery 16-year-old sponsor from Combermere, Ontario. She’s passionately pro-life, an avid reader, baker, musician, and writer. She always loved reading about Chalice’s work and the children and families’ triumphs. Feeling called to help, she began painting and selling Christmas cards and donating the proceeds to Chalice’s Christmas fund. As she paints each face of her caroling choir, she meditates on Christ’s presence in every person..

Jhon is the fourth of his parents’ ten children, living together in our rural Filipino site of Samar. Now in grade ten, Jhon is diligent about his studies and wants to make his sponsor proud. Families in Samar use special Christmas funds from Chalice on food to share with their family on Christmas Eve and as they welcome the new year. Children also buy new clothes to wear at family gatherings and Mass.
