TO JESUS, THROUGH MARY, VIA KIELON
When Kielon was deepening her Catholic faith, she felt a strong draw to the rosary. She had plastic ones, but they somehow didn’t feel like ‘her’ rosary.
"I wanted one to call my own that would encourage me to deepen my relationship with Mary and Jesus, Kielon says from her home in Ontario. “Something that would stay with me and last through my life-long devotional and prayerful journey.”
Kielon and a friend looked online at handmade rosaries, which were beautiful, but out of their price range. She started to wonder if she could make them herself.
“That morning, I was jolted awake by the conviction to make my own rosaries,” she says, “I felt so strongly that I needed to do it and saw a need I could fill. I told Jesus to do with me what he wanted and asked the Holy Spirit to guide me.”
Two years on, she’s sold more than 1000 rosaries through her online store, The Little Rosary Shop. “My products have been delivered all over the world from my kitchen," she says. “Hopefully, when people see my rosaries or prayer cards, it makes them want to pray more, to get to know Jesus better, and allows for God to reach them in a very tangible way.”
Every year, Kielon donates 10% of proceeds from The Little Rosary Shop to a different charity. She was considering which charity to support in 2023 when her priest recommended Chalice.
“I was really touched by Chalice's mission," she says. “I love how it is a Catholic organization that helps to provide so many different things: from clean water to education, to families and communities in need. This is truly what Jesus means when He says "I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me..."
In May, she announced on Instagram that 10% of her annual proceeds will go to Chalice, “anywhere that the need is greatest.”
It’s the perfect pairing. Chalice is Founded in Christ and dedicated to the love of Mary, Mother of the Church. Thank you, Kielon, for sharing your beautiful devotion and bringing Christ to the poor, and the poor to Christ.
