Sponsorship Helps Bharathi Achieve His Dreams

When Bharathi was only two months old, his mother tragically passed away. His grandfather raised him and his older brother, who suffers from a physical disability, near our Tamil site in India. When Bharathi was in grade five, he was blessed with the gift of sponsorship, which allowed him to excel in school.

In India many poor children must drop out after elementary school because their family requires them to work to help the family survive. Through family funding, Chalice sponsorship funds are directly deposited in the parents' bank account, allowing them to provide necessities and keep kids in school. Other Chalice programs like the gift catalog and capital projects help to build homes, latrines and schools, enriching communities, improving the quality of life for many, and helping to create lasting change.

Bharathi took full advantage of his time in the sponsorship program. He is a bright and ambitious young man and went on to pursue a Pharmacy degree after high school. Just this past April, he was hired as a pharmacist in his community! Bharathi extends his hearty thanks to his sponsor and to Chalice for helping him to achieve his dreams in life.
