Political Unrest in Haiti

Currently unrest and violence is being experienced in all regions of Haiti. The unrest stems from protests against the president of Haiti, Jovenel Moise and the entire government. A great number of people allege government corruption that has resulted in a severe fuel shortage and tremendous hardship for citizens of the country.

The children at our mission sites at Saint Dominique in Titanyen; at our Terrier Rouge and Grand Bassin sites in Northern Haiti; and Jeremie in Southern Haiti, continue to be cared for and safeguarded. Roads are closed and travelling is dangerous. Many staff members have been unable to report for work. Schools across Haiti have been closed the past few days, including the day schools at our mission sites, but the commitment to our children continues without interruption, with a reduced staff ensuring their safety and well-being.

Although political instability always makes it challenging to achieve the goal of fostering greater communication, we continue to search for ways to improve the communication between our mission sites and you, our sponsors. Your sponsored children enjoy an improved quality of life, made possible by your generous love and care. As more present-day news of the situation in Haiti is received, it will be shared with you, our valued and committed sponsors.

Together, we can continue to improve the lives of the children we are blessed to serve.
